Thumbs up for TubeInspect P16: Measures 10 Tubes in 85 Seconds

05 February 2016

Proton Engineering in Southern Sweden is one of the first customers that has started working with AICON’s new tube and wire measuring system TubeInspect P16. After only three months with the new system, the company gives a positive summary of the new measurement process.

“It is another step towards providing the right quality to our customers. Our production becomes even more cost-effective, which also benefits our customers”, says Fredrik Ottosson, CEO at Proton Engineering.

Equipped with 16 high-resolution cameras with GigE technology and a large measurement area (2,600 mm x 1,250 mm x 700 mm), TubeInspect P16 is suitable for tubes and wires up to 2,500 mm length. Tubes of up to 7 m length can be measured by repositioning in several steps.

A measurement takes about 10 seconds. The team at Proton Engineering, however, has succeeded in measuring 10 tubes in 85 seconds. Roger Olofsson, Quality and Environmental Manager at Proton Engineering, has been working at the company for 25 years and has got wide experience in metrology, receiving checks and samples. He is impressed of the system’s capacity and the advantages in quality assurance.

“This investment will speed up and secure measurements in the company's processes. The measurement is accurate due to the non-contact measurement, the results are the same no matter who carries out the measurement”, says Roger Olofsson.

Proton Engineering is a complete provider of complex products consisting of pipe bending, end shaping, sheet metal work, and welding with a high degree of automation as well as a complete assembly for the automotive and engineering industries.
